Hair Care Tips - Keeping Those Locks Lush and Manageable

Everyone wants a great head of hair, however, spending a fortune on products to avoid hair loss is not the answer. There are some basic things you can do to keep your hair healthy and shiny without burning a hole in your pockets.

The most basic thing you can do is pick out a shampoo and conditioner that is made for your specific hair type. If you have fine hair, you would want to select a shampoo and conditioner that will add volume to your hair. If your hair is dry or color treated, you should look for a set that will moisturize and nourish your hair. There are shampoos and conditioners for just about any type of hair.

Another thing you can do to keep your hair healthy is to avoid blow drying or using heating instruments such as curling irons or straighteners. Not everyone can get away with air drying their hair, so a blow dryer is necessary for them to style their hair. In this case, keep your blow dryer set at the lowest amount of heat possible.

If you must use these styling instruments, give your hair a hot oil treatment once every couple of weeks. You can find these treatments in any grocery, department or salon. Gently rub these oil treatments into your wet hair starting at the roots all the way down to the tips of your hair. Put on a shower cap and leave the treatment on your hair for at least 30 minutes. Rinse the treatment out and apply a moisturizing leave in conditioner. This bi-weekly treatment will help restore dry damaged hair and lock in moisture.

Trim your hair every 6 weeks to get rid of split ends. Even if you plan on growing your hair long, it is important to trim the ends as this will stimulate new growth and keep your hair healthy.

Eating right is also essential for your hair. You want to consume foods that are rich in Vitamins A, B-complex, D and E.

Last but not least, use hair products that contain natural ingredients such as organic products. These types of products do not contain harmful chemicals and are actually better for your hair.

Following these tips above will help keep your expenses down to a minimum but also keep your hair healthy as well. Sometimes, simply watching how you care for your hair will do the trick.
